Traditional 22nd Istrijada held in Vodice

This year's gathering of Istrian clubs students from Zagreb and Rijeka was held in ZEC Speleo house, called "Istrijada 2016".

The gathering took place for the 22nd time, in the period from 28th to 29th May 2016, in Vodice.

Students toured Speleo house and presentation space "Museum of karst", followed by the official opening of Istrijada.
During their stay in Vodice students visited educational path of medicinal plants, under the expert guidance of a ranger of Public Institution "Natura Histrica"  on which they had the opportunity to see...

A weekend course for patrol leaders

As part of the Forest school - West Region, a Weekend course for patrol leaders was held in Vodice, from April 15 to 17, 2016. 
The course was attended by 10 participants from Pula, Rijeka and Buzet and 6 speakers.
Throughout the two-day course, the present participants gathered valuable information through numberous thematic areas.

Eighteen members of the club Brđani, Scout group Istria Pula stayed in the ZEC "Speleo house" from April 8th to April 10th 2016.

The theme of the meeting was the help of adult experienced leader peers to younger members.

In addition to these topics present members were also introduced to a significant theme of "Crisis management in Scout camps".

The visitors toured the trail "From spring to spring" and educational trail "Paths of herbs" under the expert guidance of employees of Public Institution Natura Histrica.

A five-day winter adventure in the Science and Education Centre Speleo House

Fifteen young, intrepid participants from all over Croatia and neighboring countries spent five days attending a program organized by Outward Bound Croatia in fierce winter weather conditions. The course of topographic recording

The course of topographic recording was held in ZEC Speleo house from 11th till 13th of September.

It was intended for speleologists with or without previous knowledge in topographic recording and drafting speleological objects, and croatian and slovenian speleological community was invited to attend.

THE OPENING CEREMONY OF THE SPELEO HOUSE

On Tuesday 15 September 2015 the Science and Education Centre Speleo House located in Vodice was officially opened.

Among numerous guests, the event was attended by the President of the Region of Istria M.Sc. Valter Flego, the Mayor of the Lanišće Municipality Neven Mikac and the Mayor of Buzet Siniša Žulić.

The ceremony began with the sounds of the Croatian, Istrian and European anthem, followed by a welcoming speech given by the ŽIVO! project manager Ms. Ljiljana Dravec.

PRESS CONFERENCE REGARDING THE OPENING CEREMONY OF THE SPELEO HOUSE

On today′s press conference, which was held in the premises of the County of Istria in Pula, representatives of the Region of Istria and the Public Institution Natura Histrica, presented several updates regarding the implementation of the project Život-Voda! (acronym: Živo!) whose major achievement is the establishment of the Science and Education Center Speleo House.

THE PREMIERE OF THE EDUCATIONAL DOCUMENTARY

On Saturday 5 September 2015 as a part of the intergovernmental event Open borders day: Vodice – Golac, the Science and Education Center Speleo house in Vodice hosted the premiere of the educational documentary "ŽIVO! - Life and water in the karst region."

The documentary was presented at a press conference held by Ph.D. Nadja Zupan Hajna, project manager of the EU project ŽIVO! on behalf of the Karst Research Institute ZRC SAZU from Postojna, the representatives of the lead partner the Region of Istria and project partner Public institution...

Opening of the educational path "PATHS OF MEDICAL HERBS"

On September 5th, as part of the Day of open borders Vodice - Golac, on Ćićarija, educational path "Path of medical herbs " was officially opened.

The path was opened by Mayor of the Municipality Lanišće g. Neven Mikac, while expert guidance along the educational path, to all interested visitors, was presented by Slavko Brana, an associate of PI Natura Histrica.

The path has been equipped with ten educational tables and benches, and was set within the project LIVE! Life - Water!.

An invitation to the premiere of the educational documentary

Karst Research Institute ZRC SAZU developed an educational documentary focusing on the protection of underground water and the importance of karst springs for high-quality supply of the population with drinking water. 

The film will premiere on the Day of open borders Vodice – Golac, the first Saturday in September in the Speleo house.

Cub and junior scouts („poletarci“ and „pčelice“) earned skill badges in Vodice

A small group of cubs and junior scouts of Scouts squad „Istria“ from Pula, along with guests from Buzet, visited the Science and education center Speleo House in Vodice from 24th till 28th of June 2015.

During their stay they performed various scout duties, like flag ceremonies, building tent, patrol meetings, bed checks, etc.

Children from Buzet learned about water conservation in karst area: (26 – 27 May 2015)

In late May the Science and education center Speleo House in Vodice (Municipality of Lanišće) brought together the children from the Grdelin kindergarten and the pupils of the elementary school Vazmoslav Gržalja and their educators and teachers in educational workshops on water conservation in karst areas.

Expert meeting on the activities and results of the EU project ŽIVO! (14 May – 15 May 2015)

On the first day of the meeting, along with lectures in Postojna, about 40 participants from Croatia, Slovenia and Canada, the representatives of the project partners of the ŽIVO! project and caving clubs, professional and scientific institutions dealing with the theme of karst, were taken on a field trip to the Matarsko podolje, cave Dimnice and Rižana waterworks.

Non-formal education through sports and adventure challenges

The Science and education center Speleo House on two occasions hosted a non-profit organization Outward Bound Croatia. In January and March 2015, the Center has served as the venue of the program for the prevention of violence among youth co-financed by the Ministry of Social Policy and Youth.
